TALK IT OUT! Have something to say about growing up—or growing old—gay? Want to educate others about what it means to be transgender or bisexual? Whether it’s a rave or a rant, Pride Vermont invites you to Talk it out! Send us two poems about your experiences as a member of the LGBT community. No more than three typed pages per poem. Tell us about: coming out blissful partnerships gay marriage being bullied your other joys and challenges Four poems will be chosen from each of three categories: high school, college and adult DEADLINE June 1st Send submissions including name, address and phone number to poetry@pridevt.com. Winners will be notified by June 30th. Winners will be asked to read their work at the Pride Festival on Sept. 22 in Burlington. Prizes will be jury’s choice and there may be additional reading or publishing opportunities available! Pride Vermont is a collaboration of Outright VT, RU12?, and VT CARES. Art from local artists being showcased and other beautiful local art being auctioned. There are TONS of other goodies too to snazz up any apartment situation. It's at the Block Gallery Coffeehouse on the rotary in Winooski, right off Main Street on the corner. Show from 6p-8p. The show is free to attend, although donations are accepted. All proceeds benefit Pride! How 'bout a good ol' fashioned pancake breakfast with our rainbowy community, all to support a great cause? Come down to The First Universalist Unitarian Society on 152 Pearl Street in Burlington THIS Sunday (Father's Day) sometime between 9am-11:30am for Pride's Dad's Day Pridecake Breakfast. Click the pancakes to go to the facebook event! Plates are donation-based, so give generously if you're able and don't fret if you're not. They'll have delish toppings and all pancakes are cooked with love from local folk. As it should be, as it should be. What better place to bring a date for a deliciously smooth morning after?
